In March 2017, Sarajevo will host the International Conference on Medical and Biological Engineering, CMBEBIH2017!

The International Conference on Medical and Biological Engineering (CMBE) is one of the most important events realised by the members of the Medical and Biological Engineering Society in Bosnia and Herzegovina (CMBEBIH). The great scientific importance is also attached to this project by the support of eminent academic institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This year, the conference will be organised in co-organisation with the Medical Faculty of the University of Banja Luka, the Medical Faculty of the University of Mostar, the Medical Faculty of the University of Tuzla, the University Clinical Centre Sarajevo, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Computing, the University of Mostar and the International Burch University.

Given that participation in scientific and professional conferences, and publishing papers is a very important prerequisite for career advancement for all researchers, in this way CMBEBIH gives all academic and professional circles in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region the opportunity to present their latest research and participate in discussions and exchanges of ideas related to the development of this scientific field in the region. CMBEBIH points out that the special significance of this project is the possibility of networking of conference participants with experts from Bosnia and Herzegovina and the rest of the world. In this way, the possibility of regional and international cooperation and participation in European projects is realised, and so is the possibility of exchange of students and professionals.

The conference was recognised by relevant scientific and technical international institutions, which only speaks of the project quality. The International Federation of Medical and Biological Engineering (IFMBE), as the umbrella body of national companies for medical and biological engineering, has been supporting the organisation of the conference for the second year in a row.

"Apart from IFMBE, this year we are organising the conference under the auspices of the international organisation IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), and we are especially proud of the fact that the project was recognised by the European Foundation for Biomedical Engineering Education (ESEM). As of this year, the Medical and Biological Engineering Society is also a member of the ESEM organisation, which provides the opportunity for members to acquire knowledge in this field at European institutions and programmes in the field of biomedical engineering. In addition, what is important to all active participants of the conference is that the accepted papers will be published by Springer Nature and included in the relevant databases of academic articles, which further confirms the credibility and quality of this scientific event. - said doc.dr.sc. Almir Badnjević, conference chairman.

Participation and publication of papers at scientific conferences requires large financial outlays. The organisers are especially proud of the fact that owing to the support of sponsors, participants can ensure that participation in this scientific event is the cheapest in Europe.

"The activities and lobbying of the Society members came to light particularly from the financial aspect. Unlike other similar scientific events, we managed to provide our participants with very low registration fees. Thus, students who publish their work at the conference will pay the registration fee in the amount of 50 euros, and 15 euros as passive participants. For others, professors and professionals, the registration fee is 100 euros. These prices are much lower than the prices in any similar conference in Europe or the region where the registration fee is over 500 euros per participant. "- said mr.sc. Lejla Gurbeta, President of the Local Organising Committee of the Conference.

The organising committee points out that in the realisation of this project they have great support from domestic institutions, both academic and economic entities that have recognised the possibilities of this project to establish and strengthen cooperation with scientists.

Our partners in the organisation of this year's conference are the Faculty of Medicine, University of Tuzla, Faculty of Pharmacy and Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Sarajevo, Faculty of Natural Sciences, Mathematics and Education, University of Mostar, University of East Sarajevo, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Computing, University of Mostar, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of East Sarajevo, and many others. Our platinum sponsors InfoStudio, Oracle and Računari d.o.o. contribute to the development of the scientific scene in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the conference could not have been realised without our gold sponsors Verlab d.o.o. and Bor banka Sarajevo, as well as without our silver sponsors Symphony, MEDIC BH and La Trobe University of Australia. The conference is also sponsored by the BBI Centre Sarajevo. What is also very important to mention are the youth, more precisely students from all over BiH, who work day and night to organise this great international event - said Snežana Prorok, a graduate from the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Sarajevo, and the Conference PR.

The CMBEBIH2017 programme consists of plenary lectures, workshops, oral and poster sessions, all under the slogan “Pursuing Innovation. Shaping the Future’’.

There are a little more than 40 days left to submit papers to the conference, more precisely until 1 November 2016, and more information can be found on the official website of the conference www.cmbebih.com.
