In Sarajevo, 22.10.2018. and 23.10.2018. a two-day workshop on the topic of Genetics was held. The workshop was held as part of a series of biomedical engineering workshops conducted by the Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina at the proposal of the Society for Medical and Biological Engineering in Bosnia and Herzegovina (DMBIUBIH), under the auspices of the European Commission's program and its instrument for technical support and information exchange TAIEX.
A workshop on the topic of Genetics is the fourth area of six that will be held in different cities of Bosnia and Herzegovina during 2018. years.
The workshop gathered around 100 researchers, scientists, doctors, engineers and prospective students from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, Kosovo and Macedonia. They, together with the most famous European lecturers invited, created a platform for discussion about the latest research, innovative solutions and new challenges in this field, all with the aim of improving the quality of health care and life as a whole. Among the invited European lecturers were: Dr Wendy Craig (Group Leader - Biosafety, International Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB), Italy), Prof. Jerka Dumić (Full Professor, University of Zagreb, Faculty of Pharmacy and Biochemistry, Croatia), Prof. Damir Marianović (Scientific Research Institute of Anthropological Research, Zagreb, Croatia International Burch University, Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina), Dr Filipe Pereira (Assistant Professor Lund University, Department of Molecular Medicine and Gene Therapy, Sweden), Prof. Dr Nataša Skoko (Head of Biotechnology Development Unit, International Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB), Italy), Dr. Domenica Taruscio (University of Split, Osijek and Rijeka, Croatia) Director of Research and Director of the National Center for Rare Diseases Istituto Superiore di Sanità, Rome, Italy), Prof. Tomasz Jan Twardowski (Professor, Head of Department of Protein Biosynthesis, Poznan Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry, Polish Academy of Sciences, Poland), Prof. Borut Štrukelj (Head of Group for Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Pharmacy, Slovenia).
